Rafting on the Colorado River

Left camp early after making tea and coffee, picked up donuts in town and drove to Moab Adventure Center.  MoabAdventureCenter_Web

They are a class operation.  We signed our waivers, were fitted for life jackets got on the bus, rode through scenic terrain for 45 minutes,

got into the rafts and took off.  We apologize for the lack of actual rafting photos as Dad didn’t want the camera to get wet as we went through the rapids.  The actual rafting photos were taken by www.moabactionshots.com.

We went through a bunch of white water Class 2 and below and then stopped after 7 miles, dropped off passengers and picked up some new ones.  We went through a couple riffles and then stopped at Red Cliff Ranch for a barbeque lunch. Lunch_Ranch_Web

Burgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, chili, chips, potato salad, red pepper pasta salad, and big cookies. : )

Threatening to sink the rafts we all carried on to White Rapid which is better when the water is lower, but is rated a class 2 or 3.

We stopped after drifting through 7 miles of riffles and got out.

Had to wait for the bus for a while while they loaded the rafts, so Evan played in the river.

Then we returned, and walked around Moab for a while before returning to camp to shower and blog.  It’s going to be a while before we update as we are heading back out into the wilds.  We won’t have power or wi-fi most places, maybe not even running water.

Here’s a suggestion for a Gonzo Dining Society Road Trip!Gonzo_Inn_Web
